This is a first for me, writing a blog. I’ve never fancied myself much of a writer. I’ve alway been more of the reading type. As I write this the world is just coming out of the coronavirus quarantine. It feels like such a strange time to have lived through but the slow pace has given me a lot of time to spend with the horses and no real agenda. We have no shows to go to, a lot of the owners aren’t coming out to barn, no lessons and no pressing needs to attend to. This became a time for me to reconnect with the horses in a way that I haven’t gotten to since I was a kid. When I was a kid, I loved just sitting and watching the horses. I would sit and watch them for hours, no agenda, just enjoying their company. It also gave me time to think. A lot of time to think and reconnect with so many people in my life in a deeper way. In normal times I give a lot of lessons, individuals, groups, one after another. I try my best to teach my students to be good stewards of the horse but many times it morphs into teaching the basics and moving onto the next thing. My hope with this blog and (in the near future) course that this can become a platform to share information and ideas that will help people bloom into the great horse people that I remember from my youth. Thanks for coming along on this journey with me. I’m excited to see where it leads.
